Celebrating Farming’s high achievers – Gareth Griffiths

 

The English Panel of the Council for Awards of the Royal Agricultural Societies (CARAS) held an awards ceremony in the House of Lords, hosted by Lord Taylor of Holbeach FRAgS in the presence of HRH the Princess Royal, Fellow.

The awards are a celbration by recognition of the remarkable personal achievements and contribution of individuals to the many sectors of the food and farming industry.

Gareth joined a family farming business in the late seventies and has been instrumental in driving forward that business so that today it is one of the leading egg production and egg packing operations in the UK.

He has made and continues to make a significant contribution to the wider industry, through membership of the NFU National Poultry board, as a Director of the Central Egg Agency, a Trustee of the BENB. Gareth is also a member of the Worshipful Company of Farmers and he was on the Midlands Regional Panel of the (CBI), Confederation of British Industry. 

He was a past winner of the ‘Poultry Farmer of the Year’ at the annual Farmers Weekly Awards.

The title of his submission was “The Development of a Family Poultry Farm to a World Leading Multi-Site Egg Production and Packing Operation” which was made under option number 1A.

The sponsors for the award were David Tromans and Sir John Campbell and the award of associateship was made on the 1st February 2021.

The presentation for the Royal Agricultural Societies Associateship Award took place in the House of Lords in October 2021.
